The right to a deferment from conscription for military service provided for by the Federal Law “On Military Duty and Military Service” dated March 28, 1998 N 53-FZ is reserved for a student who received an academic leave during the period of study, but provided that the total period for which the student was The deferment granted from conscription for military service for studying at an educational institution is not increased or increased by no more than one year. Thus, the total period of academic leave(s) should not exceed 12 months.

  3. If a student graduates from the beginning of the academic year and there is no difference in the curriculum, then a special IEP is drawn up by analogy with the standard one.
  4. If a student returning from academic leave has academic debts, these disciplines (parts of disciplines) are necessarily included in a special IEP for re-study in full (as part of the discipline).
  5. If a student, before going on academic leave, has completely completed the study of a discipline, but did not pass an intermediate/final test in this discipline, or did not take two retakes of the exam/test if there is academic debt on it, then upon leaving academic leave, the student will be allowed to take this discipline without re-attempting an intermediate/final control (remaining attempts to retake the exam/test) is assigned during the retake period following the date of reinstatement.
  6. The student is admitted to the educational process from the date following the date specified in the order for granting academic leave.
  7. A student leaving academic leave early is admitted to the educational process from the date specified in the application.
  8. For a student studying on a budget basis, the educational office prepares a draft order for admission to studies within 3 working days.
  9. For a student returning from academic leave to study locally with payment of tuition fees:
    • on the basis of the IUP, the cost of educational services is calculated and a contract/additional agreement is drawn up in accordance with the educational services provided to undergraduate, specialist and master's students at the National Research University Higher School of Economics when the educational trajectory changes or when the student is deprived of a discount on tuition fees;
    • after payment has been made under the contract/additional agreement to the contract for the provision of paid educational services, within 3 working days the educational office of the educational unit prepares an order for admission to educational classes.

Attention! If a student has not submitted an application for admission to study at the end of the academic leave, this is considered a disciplinary offense. Failure to return from vacation entails the student’s expulsion from the educational institution in the manner prescribed.

According to the rules in force since 2013 year, academic leave for students:

  • budget places can be applied for only once during the entire period of study,

  • during pregnancy with multiple fetuses 154 days (84 days before and 70 after);
  • during pregnancy with multiple fetuses and complicated childbirth – 190 days (84 days before and 110 days after).

Financial features

When receiving academic leave, the student does not pay for the period of study. After restoration, tuition fees will be charged at the new rates of the educational institution.

Termination of academic leave
